We thought we had a pretty good sense of how extensive the damage would be, given all the television, YouTube and social media coverage during peak water flow, but we were shocked by how much damage the now non-existent creek did over just a few short days…

All four lanes of the TransCanada Highway have re-opened. The work currently underway along Cougar Creek is temporary, aimed at controlling the run-off from any summer storms. Town officials plan to consult with hydrologists and other experts before finalizing plans for permanent repairs / flood-mitigation measures. For the sake of all those with homes and businesses near the creek, we hope the permanent fix is completed before next spring’s run-off.
