Thanks to parent/teacher interviews on Thursday and Friday, we got away for a 3-day weekend in Canmore, perfectly timed to enjoy fresh snow – and plenty of it! We got right to it, spending the first hour of our visit shoveling more than 30 cm (12 inches) of snow off our back deck.
We were up before the sun both Saturday and Sunday, heading out with plans to photograph the sunrise each morning. Blue hour was lovely, and quickly transitioned to golden hour both days. But there wasn’t much in the way of other colour in the sky.
Saturday morning:
The snow was deep and loose, so we took advantage of the opportunity to try out some new snowshoes. We left them at home when we went walking Saturday afternoon, which turned out to be a mistake. Unusual for the town of Canmore, the official pathways in and around Three Sisters had not been plowed some 3 or 4 days post-snowfall. Our afternoon walk was hard work!
Saturday afternoon:
The landscape was stunning and there were some interesting abstracts, too, including this one…
Hoping you had a chance to #playoutside this weekend.
