Are you kidding me? Yep, that’s what I blurted the first time I saw P.J.’s throw down. And I repeated the same question sotto voce several times over the next week or so.
But then we went to Canmore for a long weekend where there are all kinds of old mining roads, unfinished roads and pathways. With the subject matter problem solved, the next challenge was venturing off pavement for the first time since I injured my knee. Mr. GeoK offered to come along, just in case I got into trouble. We took it slow and easy and I returned home with most of the photographs for this post.
1. Reclamation Underway – This road probably had some sort of name back in the day, even if it was only something like “road to coal shaft #2”. Mother Nature’s making good progress reclaiming the once well-used tire tracks.
2. No Idea – Okay, this “street” didn’t exist last time we walked here. We walked into the trees to the end of the road…which is nowhere! I can only assume that all will be revealed as the developer continues to prepare the unfinished golf course for whatever new development plan is in the works.
3. Street with a View – Also on the unfinished golf course, heavy equipment has been rolling up and down this gravel road. I have no idea if it will eventually become a pave street bordered by homes on either side, but if it does, some of them will have great views of the mountains visible in the giant puddle.
4. Warning – Road Narrows – This sign has been in place for at least four years. I’m not sure why. It’s not really on a road, although with all the heavy equipment rolling through it’s starting to look like one. Maybe someone had unusual and tremendous foresight?
5. Somewhere – This street in Calgary does have a name, but between the snow and fog, it seems like it could be anywhere. At that moment, all I cared about was getting safely home.
