Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October, but there’s a lot to be thankful for this month, too!
Right off the top, a huge THANKS to my family this month. Mr. GeoK and K took great care of me in the days immediately following my knee surgery. And daily emails, phone calls and texts from family and friends are keeping me motivated when it comes to doing all my rehab exercises every day. Sadly, I failed to take any family photos this month. Note to self – work on this! I really appreciated the flowers I received after my surgery. The colourful blooms lifted my spirits and gave me something close at hand to photograph.
A daily dose of Vitamin N is essential to my well-being. As a consequence of knee surgery, my outdoor activities have been pretty limited this month. I’ve appreciated each opportunity to get out and about. Highlights included:
My first walk outside after my knee surgery, made possible thanks to urban poles!
A longer walk in Canmore, when I spotted a fellow out for his first skate of the season on one of the most scenic skating ponds in the world. The thought of skating on this pond in February (3 months after my knee surgery) is another motivator when I tackle my kneehab exercises every day.
Active by Nature invited me out for some geocaching one morning ’cause she knows how much I like to be out and about. We explored some back roads in ranching country and earned 18 smileys before calling it quits. Thanks Mandy!
Finally, I’m grateful that 5 years ago Mr. GeoK gave me a digital camera for Christmas. Photographer’s look at the world at little differently, spotting all kinds of things that most people just pass by. When I found this tiny toy camera in a geocache, it brought a smile to my face. I’m so glad I have a “real” camera to exercise my creative muscle.
That’s it from me for this month. Please head over to A ‘lil Hoohaa to see what other participants were thankful for this month and/or leave a comment describing who or what makes you feel thankful.
I like to treat this photo blogging challenge as a month-long photo assignment, which makes it pretty low stress. New participants are welcome to join the photo blogging challenge any time. Won’t you join us? The December theme will be posted here tomorrow.
