Hiking Iceland: Lagaveguer

The popular 55 km multi-day Laugavegurinn trail connecting Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk is typically completed over a few days, with trekkers making good use of the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and/or Emstrur. We weren't interested in the full Lagaveguerinn experience, but we arranged to day hike one leg of the trail, from Hrafntinnusker to Landmannalaugar. The landscape was varied and striking and we made quick work of the mostly downhill, 10 km stretch of track. If the stunning scenery along this leg of the Laugavegu trail is any indication of what hikers encounter on the other 45 km, we'll have to figure out a way to do another leg of the route next time we visit Iceland.
