Despite experiencing first hand why Bergen is known as the rainiest city in Europe, we packed a lot into our 4 days out and about in Bergen. It's a very walkable city, with a good mix of attractions and activities.

This long read covers pretty much every aspect of our 12-day Gems of West Greenland aboard Quark Expeditions' Ultramarine. We were blessed with excellent weather and the sunshine and blue skies brought out the best in Greenland's rugged, polar landscape. Our superb sea kayaking experiences top the long list of things we particularly enjoyed, with visits to three colorful and friendly towns a close second.
After ashort walk of just 1.6 km (return) with 90 meters elevation gain, our reward was a beautiful glacial lake, Inugsuit Taserssuat, that reminded us of home.
Kayaking Sermilínguaq Fjord was our final paddling excursion on the Gems of West Greenland itinerary with Quark Expeditions. Highlights included a large Black-legged Kittiwake colony, multiple waterfalls and the chance to "raft up" just in front of the glacier that carved the fjord.
We were privileged to be among the first riders on the volunteer-constructed Kangerluarsunnguaq (Harbour Bay Trail) near Sisimiut, Greenland. A multi-step waterfall is the scenic highlight of this ~ 10 km (6 mile) track. Although dog lovers might say the stretch through Dog Town tops the list!
