This month I've thought about potential effects on nearby nature due to Calgary's water emergency. Also, it's been an okay month for birding, a good month for bear sightings and the start of wildflower season!
With spring migratory season well underway, it follows that this edition of Nearby Nature Project features a lot of bird photographs. I also touch on the start of the 2024 gardening season and the recently announced ban on private water craft in some of Canada's National Parks.
Eleven is an interesting number for many reasons. Eleven is also how many years the Photo Blogging Challenge has been running! It's a quiet time of year for the Nearby Nature Project - no gardening, not many birds, so mostly observing the ebb and flow of the winter season. But I did attend a virtual screening of a wonderful short film about our beautiful turquoise mountain lakes. And I report on my limited participation in the 2024 Great Backyard Bird Count.
