Kayaking Sermilínguaq Fjord was our final paddling excursion on the Gems of West Greenland itinerary with Quark Expeditions. Highlights included a large Black-legged Kittiwake colony, multiple waterfalls and the chance to "raft up" just in front of the glacier that carved the fjord.
A 5 km paddle under sunny skies was a wonderful way to start a long afternoon of adventure in West Greenland.
We covered almost 4 km during this 70 minute paddle. Highlights included the Black-Legged Kittiwake colony, practice maneuvering into / out of a shallow cave and a waterfall. As with the previous day, we had a bonus landing. A short trek to an overlook granted impressive views of Perlerfiup Kangerlua Fjord.
Our 90 minute paddle on Uummannaq Fjord was an ideal introduction to sea kayaking off the coast of West Greenland.
