As soon as I learned this month’s photo blogging challenge theme was Oh the Places You’ve Been, I thought of the children’s book The Places You’ll Go. Since everywhere we went this month was pretty close to home, what better way to liven things up than with a tip of the hat to Dr. Seuss…
A month of transition,
Exploring and play,
We’ve been to great places,
All near, not away!
1. Library
A portal to so many places and times
Where the books and the movies are set out in lines
The library branch that’s a short walk from home
Holds a waiting adventure inside of each tome.

2. City Park
Just minutes away from the heart of downtown
A fine patch of nature with pathways and trees
Workers and shoppers and tourists alike
Brush mind cobwebs away with a light autumn breeze. 🙂
3. Winter
The calendar page on the wall read October
But we woke to discover that winter crossed over
From its usual spot at the turn of the year
To an earlier date – and made fall disappear!

4. Alien Planet
A conglomerate found at the side of our house
Got my brain turning and then it went zing
To an alien planet, a fanciful place
With a forest of towering icicle things.
5. Urban Woods
Heading out to explore on a walk everyday
I look forward to finding new things on display
Like these woods in the city, the aspen bark light
Where fall colours contrast with the blanket of white.
To get a feel for the places other participants have been, head over to a ‘lil Hoohaa’s post – link up at the bottom of the page.
While you’re there, please consider joining us! This photo blogging challenge is like a low-stress photo assignment. For each month’s theme, you’re asked to share five photos; the amount of accompanying text is up to you. The next theme will be posted at a ‘lil Hoohaa on November 1st.
I love the treatment on these. Nice!
Beautiful! I thought of the Dr. Seuss book too.
Awesome, awesome, awesome! I love the photo treatment AND your hat tip to Dr. Seuss with each one. We’ve not had snow yet, but I know it’s coming…….

Your icicles are absolutely spectacular, and wow, you got quite some snow already! Did it melt in the meantime so you can enjoy some more fall days?
Yes, it’s all gone. In fact the city park photo near the top of my post was taken about 2 weeks after all that snow fell. Good thing it disappeared for a while – there were a lot of broken plants that we were able to clean up rather than leaving ’til spring.
